Are you looking to purchase a new or used accessible van in New Jersey? Are you looking for handicapped accessibility equipment, such as a wheelchair lift, or hand controls to assist with adaptive driving? Then, there are many state-based programs that offer financial assistance to those with limited mobility. You may be eligible for several financial assistance if you have a disability.
Below is a list of places where you can start looking for grants for disabled people available in New Jersey. Although some of these groups don’t offer financial aid directly, they can help you find grants that might be available for you. Owning a handicap van doesn’t need to be just a dream.
You can also contact the local offices of agencies and organizations that specialize in your type or disability.

Adam Taliaferro Foundation
The foundation offers financial aid and other support for student athletes from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware who have suffered a severe injury in a school sanctioned sporting event. It was named after Adam Taliaferro. He was a Voorhees football player who sustained a spinal injury while playing.

Area Agency on Aging (AAA)
New Jersey’s AAA has branches throughout each of its 21 counties. This Agency is committed to helping senior residents maintain their independence. You may click the link above to find the contact information and location of your county’s office.
Assistive Technology Center (ATC)
ATC is a resource that provides all-encompassing information for New Jersey residents who need some form of assistive technology. This is a great source of information, education, and assistance for people with disabilities in New Jersey. If you require a wheelchair van to travel to school or work, the Center might be able to assist.

Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (VA), State of New Jersey
Disabled veterans living in New Jersey may receive financial assistance and other support through the state’s VA. You may be eligible for money to purchase a wheelchair van if you become disabled during military service, or if VA-sponsored activities exacerbated or caused your disability.

Disability Rights New Jersey (DRNJ)
The DRNJ doesn’t provide financial aid or grants directly. It does, however, help state residents to find grants and low-interest loans that can be used for assistive technology. It can also be used for other purposes, such as legal representation for disabled people.

New Jersey Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs)
Click the link above to find the NJ ADRC serving your county. These centers are a great source of information and assistance for seniors and people with disabilities residing in the state. There are many ways they can assist you.
This is the same as the ADRC Disability Grants in New Mexico.
New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities (NJCDD)
The NJCDD is the state chapter of Federal Council on Developmental Disabilities (FCDD). It uses the federally-ascribed definitions of developmental disabilities. It is also the leading source for information, grants, and other forms aid for anyone with any of these conditions, or at a risk of develop a condition. The Council can assist you in getting a wheelchair van if you have such a disability.

New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS)
NJ DVRS is designed to help people with disabilities in New Jersey stay employed. They provide services and financial assistance to do this. You may inquire about financial assistance available to get an accessible vehicle that you need to find work and get there every day. There are many offices throughout the state, and you can find the nearest one on their website.
New Jersey Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC)
The New Jersey SILC is dedicated to helping people with disabilities living in New Jersey to become and continue being independent and self-determined. The NJ Department of Labor runs the SILC. As required by law, the majority of Council members are people with disabilities.
This is similar to the SILC Disability Grants in New Hampshire.
