Massachusetts State Associations

Massachusetts Nonprofit Network
The work of the nonprofit sector affects each Massachusetts resident. The 33,900+ nonprofits found in the state are vital economic engines that create more than 500,000 jobs and 17% of the state’s workforce. They also enrich the culture and beauty of the state.
The Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN) is the voice of the nonprofit sector. It is the only state-level organization in the Commonwealth committed to strengthening and uniting the entire sector of nonprofits through advocacy, public awareness, and capacity-building. There are more than 750 affiliate members from both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, which represent each sub-sector and region of the state. They will help you to network, advocate, save money, and gain the tools you need in order to grow and thrive.
MNN has three main goals:
- Engage members in advocacy and influencing public policy initiatives to strengthen the nonprofit sector.
- Advance the image of the nonprofit sector as efficient, essential, and effective.
- Build capacity in nonprofits all over the state.

Providers’ Council
The Massachusetts Council of Human Service Providers, Inc. was founded in 1976. It is a statewide association of human and health service agencies. It is also the largest state-level human service trade association, and it is widely recognized as the official voice of the private provider industry.
The Council’s mission is to improve the community of human services through developing and promoting the nonprofit sector’s workforce, driving the creation of innovative and effective business models for the public good, expanding provider and nonprofit sector roles, advocating for appropriate and fair governmental rules, and encouraging the sector’s innovative and effective models of services to program participants.
In order to strengthen the number of human service workers, the Council hosts a variety of member-focused educational training and events. Moreover, the Council’s Annual Convention and Expo attracts over 1,000 people and more than 75 exhibitors each year, making it the largest human services convention in New England. The past keynotes include: Gov. Michael Dukakis, Marian Wright Edleman, Les Brown, Patch Adams, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, and Dick Hoyt.
